Let's face it: national security do need to learn on the job

Recalling all former US Presidents, few of them had national security experience before stepping as President. George Bush Senior was one of them in my memory. The rest of them? I can not see any of them experienced before the job. Reagan, Clinton, GW Bush. Among current candidates, probably McCain is the most experienced.
