国务卿深夜抵达欧盟首都开启正式访问。中国真会选时间,今天欧盟议会议长、党团领袖、各国政要个个都群情激愤
国务卿一口流利的法语,正好派上用场,连翻译都不必了。

Thrilled to have just landed in Brussels for my first official visits to @NATO and the EU as Secretary of State. Looking forward to productive discussions with other ministers and with the dedicated team at @USEmbBrussels, @USNATO, and @US2EU! pic.twitter.com/94dunv5wyM

Les propos de l’ambassade de Chine en France et les actions contre des élus, chercheurs et diplomates européens sont inadmissibles. J’ai demandé que l’ambassadeur de Chine soit convoqué pour lui rappeler fermement ces messages.

China’s Embassy in France lays out the rationale for a combative approach to public relations. Will this become the new normal for Chinese diplomats in Europe? Or will we continue to see significant variation between embassies in different countries?*****tRyKSKJQx8 pic.twitter.com/8TPhQovl8z

China's sanctions on MEPs, the Human Rights Subcommittee and EU bodies are unacceptable and will have consequences.
— David Sassoli (@EP_President) March 22, 2021
The sanctions hit MEPs and @Europarl_EN bodies for expressing opinions in the exercise of their democratic duty.
Human rights are inalienable rights.
We stand firmly with MEPs @gahler_michael, @MiriamMLex, @bueti, @rglucks1, @ilhankyuchyuk and the @Europarl_EN's Subcommittee on Human Rights who have been sanctioned by China.
— David Sassoli (@EP_President) March 22, 2021
I reiterated my support to them and to the other EU individuals and bodies hit by these sanctions. pic.twitter.com/q2kpOu0UXy
The EU Global Human Rights Sanctions Regime is an important new EU tool. We must stand together and speak up clearly, with one #EU voice, to condemn human rights violations. The EPP is committed to #humanrights as a fundamental, universal and non-negotiable #value

China just killed the EU-China Investment Agreement by sanctioning the people criticising the slave labour/genocide in Xinjang.

How could we ever trust them to improve the human rights situation of the Uyghurs if they simply call it "fake news" ?!
The right decision by @IuliuWinkler - today's events clearly do not allow to continue with business as usual. *****hRcfLGqTfs

Full solidarity with @rglucks1 and other Europeans sanctioned by China. The lifting of sanctions against MEPs is a pre-condition for us to enter into investment talks. @kvanbrempt @RodriguezPinero ??*****vHpFttPaeH
I support the sanctions on Chinese officials – the first since 1989 – for the grave #humanrights abuses against the #Uyghurs.

We also have to examine #China's actions in #Tibet, #HongKong, and the #SouthChinaSea.
A thorough assessment of the #CAI is needed.

We call on @EP_President and @JosepBorrellF to strongly object to the measures taken by the Chinese government. Counter measures against Chinese government officials should be prepared as a response. @bueti @gahler_michael @rglucks1 @ilhankyuchyuk @MiriamMLex
— Manfred Weber (@ManfredWeber) March 22, 2021
This makes dialogue with representatives of the People's Republic more difficult and burdensome which I find regrettable. I will not let up in my advocacy for human rights and democracy. I suspect that my chairmanship of the Taiwan Friendship groups played a certain role. 2/2

Belgium strongly rejects the announcement of the Chinese authorities to sanction EU entities and especially EU MP’s (including one Belgian MP) in response to measures adopted in defence of human rights, a core tenet of EU policies. We will follow this up with our EU counterparts.

De stap van China is een volledig onterechte reactie op de maatregelen die in het kader van het EU-mensenrechtensanctieregime zijn getroffen. In Europees verband zal dit verder worden opgepakt.
— Mark Rutte (@MinPres) March 22, 2021
