From 1949 uptil 1980, China had survived from the strictest embargo ever applied by the US and its allies. During that period, China had sufferred famine, due to failed crop, and drought. But to thwart the upcoming US military attack to change the regime, China also succeeded in detonating its first atom bomb on 16th of October 1964. It also made achievements in testing balistic misiles and launcing its first satelite into orbit. It built the first great bridge over Yangzi. The cassualties were great, but China had survived.
Now China noticed that the present US administration, lead by President Trump, assisted by US hawks politicians, want to turn the clock back to 1950’s, and try once again to change the regime or at least contain China’s progress.
But things have changed considerably. The population of China has grown to be 1.380 billion active and smart people, well educated on average. China has been the biggest trading nation in the world, and by some calculation method is already the largest economy in the world. Its technology is already the most advanced in the world. It can land satelite and moon rover on the dark side of the moon, it can make space stations, it tested succesfully the hypersonic missiles, railgun,laser weapons, EMP’s, it has the largest number of ships.
But China is an old civilization and historically well experienced. It knows that no nation can live alone without any relationship with others. Its doctrine is “Win Win Solution”. unlike the US doctrine of “Zero Sum Game”. The US doctrine is basically the Western wisdom, from Sparta and Roman time, to the British empire and German Third Reich. It doesn’t work and brings disaster to the world as a whole. It brings disasters and kill people.
So, while at present China is very able to be self sufficient and free from economic entanglement from the US, China doesn’t want it, and still pursue cooperation with all nations including the US.
