Your source is wrong

It assumed drepanocytosis (sickle cell disease, SCD) only affects blacks -- and therefore those who are affected by it = black. 

But it is not.  Science has discovered that SCD affects other people, too.  

 

The source, "EU Times," is hardly a reliable source of information.
