哈哈，前两天才替习博士 coin 了一个新词，“extranoia” :-)

一边是“自信”自大到匪夷所思的 megalomania，一边是胆小怕死到惊世骇俗的“extranoia”，习博士能在 bipolar 之路上达到如此超凡脱俗的境界，说起来其实也是弯道超车 :-) 。比如取之不尽用之不竭的古罗马帝国，就有一位 Commodus 皇帝（就是《Gladiator》里那位 Commodus 同学，只是被好莱坞化了 :-)）。

Commodus 同学的“自信”，据 Cassius Dio 说，Commodus 同学自称是赫拉克勒斯转世；他本人要被称为“Golden One”；他统治的年代要被称为“Golden Age”；斗技场里人们要对他高呼: “Thou art lord and thou art first（一尊？）, of all men most fortunate. Victor thou art, and victor thou shalt be; from everlasting, Amazonian, thou art victor.”。他还把罗马重新命名为 Commodiana，元老院命名为 Fortunate Commodian Senate 。他给元老院的信件都是这样开头，“The Emperor Caesar Lucius Aelius Aurelius Commodus Augustus Pius Felix Sarmaticus Germanicus Maximus Britannicus, Pacifier of the Whole Earth（人类命运共同体体长？）, Invincible, the Roman Hercules, Pontifex Maximus, Holder of the Tribunician Authority for the eighteenth time, Imperator for the eighth time, Consul for the seventh time, Father of his Country, to consuls, praetors, tribunes, and the fortunate Commodian senate, Greeting.”...

至于Commodus 同学的 paranoia，同样据 Cassius Dio 说，Commodus 同学的生态环境和习博士差不多（“Many plots were formed by various people against Commodus”），所以 Commodus 同学也顺理成章走上 paranoid 之路（“and he killed a great many, both men and women, some openly and some by means of poison, secretly...”）

不过再 paranoid 也不能免灾避祸，Commodus 同学最终还是死于 plot --- Cassius Dio 同学的描述比之 gore film 毫不逊色：“... For these reasons Laetus and Eclectus attacked him, after making Marcia their confidant. At any rate, on the last day of the year, at night, when people were busy with the holiday, they caused Marcia to administer poison to him in some beef. But the immoderate use of wine and baths, which was habitual with him, kept him from succumbing at once, and instead he vomited up some of it; and thus suspecting the truth, he indulged in some threats. Then they sent Narcissus, an athlete, against him, and caused this man to strangle him while he was taking a bath. Such was the end of Commodus, after he had ruled twelve years, nine months, and fourteen days. He had lived thirty-one years and four months; and with him the line of the genuine Aurelii ceased to rule.” :-)

Commodus 被高卢人民称为“paranoïaque attifé en Hercule” （打扮成赫拉克勒斯的 paranoid）。这有他在位时雕像为证 :-)
