进Library of congress逛了逛，开放的是Thomas Jefferson building, 4个building 之一，1897年完工。
听义工们介绍，这是当时那个年代来自法国的一种建筑风格：Beaux-Arts style。对我来说这种风格更像大剧场，不像图书馆。
看到了久负盛名的the main reading room, 也看到了19世纪跟21世纪的交汇点，还看到了整个library of congress 的起源—Jefferson 在1815年把自己的6千多本私人藏书卖给国会。
里面很多志愿者，都是银发老爷子老太太。分别在一楼，二楼跟两老爷子提问，还跟他们聊了一会儿。他们都当志愿者15+年了，所以他们至少70多岁了。
当回答我们的问题时，他们的眼睛里有一种年轻人有的twinkle 。感谢他们的时候，他们一笑，说：这也是他们让自己relevant的机会。
