Minors seeking to renounce their own US citizenship must demonstrate to a consular officer that they are acting voluntarily and fully understand the implications and consequences of the renunciation. The renouncing minor will have to convince the officer that they are not subject to duress or undue influence and voluntarily want to renounce.
