If life today were music, what form do you think it would take?
Assuming, of course, that in this life music we could make?
I think Bach is right, a prelude would be appropriate:
Short efficient, introductions are all we can appreciate.
Indeed a prelude’s all that’s left, no time for grander schemes;
All that remains in this hurried life are snippets of larger dreams.
Symphonies, sonatas, suites--all sustained and lengthy creations;
We have no time for these, only expedient fabrications.
In our time, there is scarcely enough solitude,
To entertain us with a humble prelude.
