On our last 2 cruises - Dec on Diamond Princess and April on Celebrity Summit - both were not cold in public areas, even in a half-empty theatre on Summit, it is not cold.
I guess just bring a lightweight cardigan for your elderly if you are worried. What do you mean by "bringing a lot of clothes already" ? Which itinerary you are cruising ? 7 days ? 14 days ?
You dont need to bring clothes for every single day, especially if you are not going to tropical climate.
We usually handwash our undies everynight, and our T-shirts every 2-3 days depends on situation. Shampoo is great for handwash in the sink (even it is very small, it is manageable for washing small items). We use the big towels to draw moisture away from wet clothes - lay the dry towel on your bed, lay your washed clothes on the dry towel, roll them up, twist it on each end to opposite direction. your wet clothes would come out like half dry and the aircon in the cabin will dry them up nicely overnight.
We always bring a few wire hangers with us when travel, on land or otherwise.
Ship also has laundry / dry cleaning services thought they are not cheap, but reasonable enough. Princess Cruises have laundry rooms on all its ships except the Taihiti Princess. (equipped with washer/dryer/iron/ironing board with norminal charges - $1.00 for a load you bring your own detergent/softener, iron is provided for free). Other ships you have to use the service if you dont want to do any wash yourselves. This past April on our 14 day Panama Canal cruise we sent a pair of jeans to wash/iron - the cost was 3.50 for next day service.
Going on Alaska South Bound cruise in 10 days time on Island Princess, we will make use of the laundry room if needed.
