Dell Dim series vs. XPS series

In a Dimension series, it seems to me, if I want to have a modem, there will be no way to have an IEEE 1394 port, it always says not compatible. Why? No physical slot left? I think Modem has nothing to do with 1394.

But, in XPS series, you can either buy the IEEE 1394 adapoter, or buy the sound card with the 1394 port.

Am I right?
