you have to try or check menu

normally, you will have either DVD+R or DVD-R disk, and for DVD-R, the book type will be DVD-R, for DVD+R disk, you can burn into DVD+R booktype by default, or DVD-R booktype by a booktype change program from your burner manufacture.
So, test three types
DVD-R disk
DVD+R disk with DVD+R booktype
DVD+R disk with DVD-R booktype.
Just give you a reference, my 4year old chinese DVD player take DVD+R disk with DVD-R book type, and DVD-R disk. My American player accepts all of them.
