win 2000 to XP

I tried to update my win 2000 to XP, but I failed due to th epreviuos version is Japanese. I have to install in a new section. After instalation, when I start the computer, I have to choose the Win 2000 or win XP to start the computer. I want to delete the previous version. Can anyone help me to do it?
