how to automate web operation

I have to do some very tedious work, and wonder if part of the work can be automated using programming language. what I need to do is:
1. paste my query into a web form and click the SEARCH button on the webform to search my query
2. the resulting web page gives me a list of URLs, clicking each URL opens another web page which only contains plain text
3. I need to click each each URL, copy the text on the new page and paste the text into a file.

can anyone tell me if it's possible to write a program to do the work, at least the part 3 of the work? if so, what language should I use? and where I can see some of those examples? thanks so much!
