Question: downloaded a pdf fil

I downloaded a PDF file, but it disappeared. I used search, but the result shows "not found". How could I find it? I know it is on my computer because I watched it downloading all the way. It says it goes to "my document", but I just cannot find it. Help me please. Thank you so so so much.
