question about memory

Hi,

I have a Dell Dimension 4550 series deskdop(CPU 1.8GHZ).
Originally the machine has 128MB memory(PC2100),266MHZ bus speed.
I bought a 512MB memory(PC2100/2700).
The machine has two memory slots.

Can I use 512MB memory and 128MB memory together ?
Or I need to buy two 512MB memory bank ?
Has anyone compare performance :

512MB+128MB vs. 512MB
512MB+512MB vs. 512MB
