urgent question about ethernet

cable connection.

I have AOL DSL connection. One laptop has aol software package installed. the other laptop does not. so when I use the same etherent cable to connect to the first computer, I can access the internet, while when connecting the second computer, the connection information shows that connection is successful, packets are being received and transfered, but when I try to use IE, I got "page can not be displayed " error. what is the reason? waiting on-line, thanks for any help!
