windows 2000 dos command

I have some problem to install windows 2000. Now I can use a disk to access the dos command. I tried to use CD commande to change to C drive so that I can find which file I missing. But I can not use the CD command, neither I just only type the C drive. I tried C, C:, and C:\ and the combinations with CD commande. None of them works. Would you please let me know how I can access my C drive. Your kind help will be greatly appreciated.
