You'd better ask Compaq customer service or check their website first.

Usually the brand named computer comes along with a recovery CD which has all the drivers only it. But if the driver softwares are not separated from the recovery program, then it is possible that you can't drive those hardware after upgrade, if you don't use their own upgrade software (I mean Compaq).

If the driver softwares are not separated from recovery program, the safe way to do it is check all the hardware information first and write them down then search all the driver software online and download them for later use.

BTW, your computer gets slower and slower is not the problem of needing upgrade. The most possible reason could be you installed too much stuff. Some people just use laptop as desktop. :)
