make sure in the input plug-in that you have the Microsoft WINAMP/WMA plug-in v1.13(x86) plug-in. I can play wma version 7 and wma version 8 encoded wma. I haven't tried wma version 9 yet.

You can download that plug-in from winamp.com or just download a copy of winamp 2.95 full.
