Palm Pixi as a mobile hot spot

I tried to use palm pixi as a mobile hot spot. every time the website pops up and changes to Verizon's site asking $20 for using the hot spot function. I am using the PPC and has free internet, but unable to use it. Was anyone successful? Thanks.
