For music, I just added the songs I want to itune library and sync, but nothing happened.

For movies, the instruction says, "Convert a video to work with iPod touch, select the video in your iTunes library and choose Advanced > “Convert Selection for
iPod.” Then add the converted video to iPod touch." But my itune's "create iPod or iPhone version" is not highlighted and cannot be clicked. I am stuck. I think I might have to update the software before I can do anything.
