Has anyone changed motherboard for HP DV5000 Laptop?

I have a HP DV5000 with AMD 64 Turion 1.8Ghz processor. It appears the planar board is dead - USBs are dead and the LCD won't light up (although I changed converter couple times with new ones). I am thinking to replace the planar board. Has anyone done so? What precautions should I be aware?
