There is no much you can do. The reason battery dies is because the slow oxydation process. No one can stop it. Many people concern that battery is being continuously recharged when it is plugged. When the battery is full, the charging will stop. Lithium battery has no memory effect. Generally, a new battery lasts about 3 yrs. Then the capacity start to go down dramatically. If it does not support your laptop for an hour, it is time to change.
