For more than one year, I didn't install any system. Now I recalled, after you installed the system. The address of IE points an expired address, so it reports "cannot connect to the server". In this case, just goto the address bar, enter any web address to see if you can open the web site. like: www.bigapple.com, etc.

Go: IE -> Tools -> Window Update
Update the IE, or set the default home address of your IE, then next time, when you open IE, the IE will not try to connect the expired Microsoft's site.
