This is winsock 2 issue due to virus or bugs in IE or OS

The symptom is that you know you are connected - you can talk in Skype or MSN, and you can 'ping' a website, but your browser always says can't display.

The easy way for you is to install firefox so you have internet right away. The techy way is to fix LSP.
