Is the D just a partition on that disk?

I guess the reason your system crashes is because win 2k has the 135GB (137.5GB?) gap. you need to set the value in regedit to let the win 2k support the disk > 135GB (or 137.5GB, cannot recall now).

If the D is on the same disk, you better stop to try any installtion of OS.

To get the disk out of the case carefully, then connect to any other computer, better XP system that does not have problem for the big disks. If you have the external USB case, you may put the disk into the external case, and make the copy.
