I have a similar problem

Mine uses XP professional. The word will not work neither in office 2000 nor office 97 version. At the sametime, excel and powerPoint work fine. Use the same CD and get everything working on my other PC o.K.

If I remember right, there was someone else raised this question on this board before. It seems to be a common problem.
