Seeking advice: How do I add audio device?

My system show a DVD drive as the only audio device, when I have a sound card and speakers, etc. Sound plays fine, but I need to set another device as the audio device so I can use the DVD drive (video recording) without slowing it down.

I've tried Device Manager, but can't make it work (I guess I really don't know what exactly I should do). Any advice is greatly appreaciated.
