A Microsoft Powerpoint Question, Please help! Thanks.

I saved all my presentations as .ppt files. However, when I try to open these files, they only open as "microsoft powerpoint viewer" files, which means I cannot make any changes of the slides and can onle VIEW them. What's the problem and how I can solve this problem. Thank you all.
