Latex: first page of tableofcontents

I want the page number on the first page of table of contents to be on the top right. But currently it is located at the bottom middle. How can I change that?

\clearpage
\pagestyle{headings}
\tableofcontents

this just deosn't help for the first page. (the second page has the page number on the top right, as I wanted).
