I don't think you need install Chinese version XP. XP itself supports Unicode. You can set the default locale to PRC and it will support Chinese if your application is Chinese application. To make sure you machine will work with Chinese you can test cmd (command window, DOS window).

Set default locale to English you cannot input Chinese in cmd. Set default locale to PRC you can input Chinese in cmd.

After set default locale to PRC your english office will still work.
