But I do not think profit or not has anything to do regarding clinical trials. Of course, I do not see the whole picture of the whole healthcare industry. Can't be 100% sure. My understanding is these trials and genetic studies are held at large inner-city hospitals, like in NTC, Chicago, Baltimore..., because of the traffic volume of patients. There is no money to make in these trials. Small private practice of a few physician would not do.
The pharmaseuticals do know the designs of these trials. They have to pass an IND (invention of new drug) review by FDA which describes the administration, dosage, toxcology, pathology and all the details aspects about how to use this drug, as well as the safety to use on human. The trial would carry on according to IND. However, the analysis of the drug on human is blind to the people doing the analysis as well as the company.
