You don't need to rent the car. Buy the CTA visiting pass at Airport CTA train station. 3 days pass only $12. You can get Bus& Rail map in any station. And there are 4-lines of free trolley.
We live at place near to Lake Michigan, Navy Pier, Michigan Av, and Lincoln Park. There has nice beach, free zoo. And if you like to shopping, go to Michigan Av. If you like night club, there is Russ Street.
We buy city pass (include Adler Planetarium, Field Museum, Museum of Science and Industry, Hancock Observation or sears Tower and Shedd Aquarium) for $59.
