Contingency plans are part and parcel of good risk management.  Just how far and to what degree of detail one goes about fleshing out contingency plans are judgment calls that should take into account of probabilities of various risks materializing and the cost-benefit analyses that come with them.  In other words, we don't have unlimited resources, and almost all undertakings we embark on have some inherent/implied risks.
