didn't use "please", "would you please", "may I ask you a question...","do you mind...", "thanks". I think most American people are very keen about the way you talk, and they indeed use these polite words all the time themselves. So if you are new in the company, and it seems to me that you want to be friendly to everyone, you may improve your people skills and English.
