You did right!

"Many chiefs, no Indian" .  In your case,  "Many managers, one employee."

This is really really an ugly situation.   To you:  In the end, you do not get credit, and you can easily become a scapegoat, should anything went wrong.

You did the right thing to bring this issue to big boss.  He might be thinking how to better the situation.  Give him time.
