Here is a story of a friend of mine.

12 year ago, when I just came over from China, my friend already passed step 1 board exam. However her hu*****and didn't support her at that time,so she quit and had second baby. 6 years later when I was in my residency, she told me that she really wanted to go back to medicine. I told her there was no reasons she couldn't make it. Within 2 years she passed all board exams and matched into a residency. Now she just finished her residency training and become a psychiatrist.
