When to contact recruiter?

I have interviewed with hiring manager and 3 business partners on the team. Recruiter told me I was the no. 1 candidate. However I have not heard anything back for a week after the interview. Should I contact the recruiter for the status?

If there is no offer, I guess the recruiter will not contact me any more, right?
