I guess that is true nearly everywhere. Even the best mannered people will do "well intended" lies. I know I am not 100% honest. I can say "this has not been completed on time because ..." which may not be true, but, fortunately or not, my profession does not give me the option to say something work when it does not - it is verifiable.

The main point is, don't tell lies that destroy your reputation long term.
