Hill, regarding people may have different comments, here is something might be related to it. Your team members, you bosses, and your peers - like leads for other departments. Your team members want you to be aggressive to protect them, depend them, or asking for high visible projects. Your bosses want you to be aggressive to help them, meet the goals for their bosses. Your peers want you to be support them, understanding them. So it is possible that when people talk about aggressive, they mean different thing.
