Mom, Congratulations!
Mom,
Congratulations that you are now FREE of the D.B.A.—daily baby administrator work and get yourself ready for the other DBA field!
Yes, I believe that you can get back to “where you were” – data management profession, data analyst would be the better choice as a PATH, for you to get started after years at home, rather than Oracle or SQL Server since technology chance so quickly and you may need to spend some time to get yourself use to the “politics”.
Meanwhile, take some courses to update yourself – i.e. either Oracle 10g/11g, or SQL Server 2005/2008, or even Excel pivot tables, macros, VBA, or other BI tools as a data analyst, and see if you can get a certificate one by one at a time – do not forget that you still need to perform your real D.B.A. duties at home, right?
I would say, for your long run, data management field is a good option.
Suggest get some readings from www.apress.com, or www.wrox.com
hope that helps.
Happy Now?
Good luck!
