tough interview questions 请较大家怎样回答会比较合适?

昨天去面试一个Director的职位(in the government-Canada)，被问到以下几个问题，我觉得自己答得非常非常不好，请较大家怎样回答会比较合适。这是我第一次去面试director level 职位，所以这次就当练兵了，希望下次能够面试成功！

Question 1: I have opened this position for competition last year, but all the candidates failed the exam, so that competition has been cancelled. One of the senior analysts (his name is Paul) has been acting on this position since then. He has been on that position for almost 1 year now. And thus he has obtained a lot of hands-on experience on this position. If you are selected as the director, how are you going to handle the relationship with Paul?

Question 2: One of the employees in the team is underperforming and not participating in team initiatives. How are you going to approach this employee and address this situation?
