gender discrimination is to treat others with bias regarding to genger/sex. Most likely companies are trying to avoid responsibilities of toleranting any of those biased remarks/actions in the workplace.So they must response or do something once they receive report of any concern towards to gender discrimination.

It would be wise in workplace not to put yourself in a toubled investigation by saying/doing something foolish.
