oracle question

I am a java developer and going to join another team for just few months to maintain an old system(9 years old). The data is stored in oracle8/oracle9. I don't think I can learn much from front end components and middleware componets, but I can learn oracle. This is first time I use oracle. What should I learn about oracle? Just PL/SQL?
