you are absolutely right! my boss, a America lady, she is smart! so far, she did not say anything about my job, good or not good. the reason I focus on the technology, because in my department, only I have the ability to handle the complex problem at the system I am working on, I thought it is the highest priority to maintain the current system work correctly. I guess it is my boss't as well. it seems I am wrong, I really need communicate with her, just like you say. honestly, I don't know what her work style yet.and I am not smart and good at office political thing. if she does not like my personality, I think there is nothing I can do. but I really don't want to be disappointed at me, I appreciated she offered me this job, and there is no problem for me to follow her way, just I don't know how to do that, this is my big problem!
