Most offers in USA are at will except for some CEO, CFO positions which usually are subject to some employment contracts. Company could also cancel its offer and just pay you two week salary. In 2002/2003, the eoconomy is very gloomy, even CSCO, Intel withdrew their offers. There is no gurantee. If you get a better offer just cancel the old one and accept the new one.
