I don't think so.

I was told again and again that my English is very good compared with most of the internationals here in US, but STILL I am not a native speaker. That said, there were times when I was in meetings that I could feel intimidated if I kept reminding myself as a non-native speakers-- almost all white males and about 10 or 30 years older than me.

However, I try to remain confident, positive, intelligent, and professional. I often think strategically and act diplomatically, which in return help me outsmart my colleagues. Now, I am the manager of a department that has 4 Caucasians and 6 Indians.

In a nutshell, language fluency is VERY important, but there are LOTS of other things that contribute to your career. I am still trying to improve both. Good luck.
