To: those High-tech people in the bay area, please advise, thanks
My hu*****and works in a NASDAQ high-tech company in the bay area. His pay is around 100k.
He is an engineer with 3 subordinates. I just feel that he works too long hours ( from 9:30am to 10:00pm almost every day, sometimes, even till 11:30 if there are urgent things)
I am just wondering whether it is normal work life for engineers working in the bay area. I don't think it is normal. I think it is too stressful and not worth it for such kind of pay at his level.
If you live in the bay area and work in the high-tech field, could you please comment: whether it is fair for him to work so hard at his management level and pay level?
He is not in the consultant field, but once in a while, the job requires him to fix the problems in otehr states and countries when a new product lauches. Once, on a Friday evening around 7pm, his boss asked him to go to another state to fix the problem the saturday flight at 5am, then, on Saturday, asked him to fly to another European country to fix the problem there (Sunday flight 6am)---as a result , he slept only 2 hours on the Friday night, and 4 hours on the Saturday night. I just feel his boss is unreasonable in doing like this, treat my hu*****and like a superman who doesn't need sleep!
Any advice? thanks.
