Is it a PE rather than a VC?

I know some PE firms went public, but all good VCs are private.

Your compensation really depends on your current level; unfortunately you don't have that much bargaining power once you started your job.

Also many VCs are not preparing you for their partner track, they just want to use you to do the paper work.
