Investigation connects U.S. missile to residential blast in Bahrain

A sophisticated Patriot air defense interceptor, likely operated by U.S. forces, was responsible for a pre-dawn explosion that injured dozens of civilians in Bahrain on March 9, according to an exclusive Reuters report published today.

Washington and Manama initially attributed the blast in the Mahazza neighborhood to an Iranian drone, but an analysis by the Middlebury Institute of International Studies, examined by Reuters, indicates the damage was caused by the detonation of a Patriot missile.

The incident highlights the growing technical and humanitarian risks of deploying advanced weaponry produced by RTX Corp (NYSE: RTX) to counter low-cost autonomous threats in densely populated allied territories.
